Back to School Safety
Good luck to all the students here at Georgetown Apartments. Whether you’re just entering pre-school or studying for a graduate degree, best wishes for a successful and studious new school year! And residents, be sure to watch out for frequent school bus stops in the area.
Kids, if you’re planning to catch a ride on the school bus this fall, Georgetown reminds you to remember the following points:
- Arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes before the bus is due
- Never run across the road without looking both ways first
- Walk on sidewalks whenever possible. If you have to walk on the roads, always walk facing traffic.
- Look left, then right, then left again, as cars will approach from the left first.
Every Drop Counts
Become an advocate for one of our most endangered species: Our water supply.
- Turn off tap water while brushing your teeth.
- Take short showers
- Use washing machines and dishwashers only with full loads of clothes and dishes.
- Report running toilets and leaky faucets.
Future generations will thank you.
Enjoy Autumn
Here it comes: The air is crisp; the trees are changing color; the days are getting shorter. Time to dig out your favorite sweater and go for a brisk walk in the park. Fall is upon us again! It will be time for football and Thanksgiving turkey before you know it! We hope you can take some time out and enjoy the season.
Turn Back The Hands Of Time
Daylight Saving time ends on November 7 at 2:00 a.m. Before hitting the hay Saturday night, it’s wise to set your clocks and watches back one hour. When you wake up Sunday morning, you’ll gain back that hour you lost in April. How refreshing!
Food Drive for St. Louis Food Bank
We’d like to take this opportunity to wish each of you Happy Holidays in the spirit of the season; we are hosting a food drive for a local charity. Those of you who’d like to help, can drop off nonperishable food items at the office from November 1st to the 19th. We will take care of delivery. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
You May Never Know What May Drop In
Many circumstances of life are not expected and not welcome. Make sure that all of your possessions on this property are covered by a renter’s insurance policy, so that you will be compensated in the event of fire, theft, flood, or natural disaster. Renter’s insurance costs very little, but will greatly help you to recover from a loss. Look into renter’s insurance today!
Maintenance Corner
Toilet Maintenance—Non flushable items
There are a lot of myths swirling around about what’s flushable and what’s not. Georgetown wants to clear up any confusion. Paper towels, diapers, wet wipes, Q-tips, Kleenex and all feminine products are not flushable. Flushing these items can cause severe sewer blockages, resulting in inconveniences for our residents.
Kitchen Stove Maintenance
To keep your range and oven working safely and efficiently, please clean them often. Range-tops and burners should be cleaned after each use with glass or tile cleaner. Never use a sharp object to clean your oven. Hood vent filters should be cleaned monthly. We appreciate your efforts to keep your home safe, clean and attractive.
Social Gatherings
